For the latest example of a company that got too popular for its own good, consider the smart guys at JibJab.com, which did the funny "This Land" Kerry/Bush piece a while ago, and now has a new one.
Except that you kind of can't watch it, because you sit through about four thousand ads, and then it doesn't (at least for me) work anyway. It just keeps loading ad after ad. They've just got too much going on. The banner ads for the ten-dollar DVD (I think those things are cute, but ten bucks for four minutes of content? Not so much), the Centrino ad, the other ones . . . the ads just load and load and load.
I sympathize, because I'm sure their bandwidth situation is a nightmare, but basically, they shouldn't have gone on the Today show and on Leno with a new one if they weren't set up to show it. Which they're not, because . . . did I mention all you get is a barrage of ads?
I can't see it on the JibJab site, either. But Atom Films is also hosting it, and it plays without any trouble for me there: http://atomfilms.shockwave.com/af/home/
Not as funny as the first one, but still pretty good.

[ link ]I saw it at someone else's blog this morning (I cannot remember whose, though), and I had no problem viewing it. It wasn't nearly as funny as the first one, though. Although still funny.

[ link ]Their site seems to be working well now. I was able to watch both movies with no ads. And how did I not know about them before?
