Blah, blah, blah. I sure am packed with sympathy for people who only make $80,000 a week for often appearing in about three scenes. Especially since there are only seven or so scenes that ever appear on The West Wing, and once you've got them down, you can pretty much relax. If they want all the money they deserve, I'd like to see them give back the Emmys they don't deserve. Posted by Alison-Jane at July 29, 2003 10:46 AMComments
Okay, not that I'm looking for sympathy or anything. But some of us only make $19k PER YEAR. Please forgive me if there's a lack of sympathy for those who make as little as the West Wing regulars. Posted by: Kimmy on July 29, 2003 11:42 AMI don't have a problem with salary demands in general, but in this case a) I don't think they're worth it (unlike the friends, for example, or seinfeld, both of whom had huge ratings to back up their demands--hasn't west wing's plummeted this year?) and b) I think it's wrong to make the demands when you still have a contract. Hey, nobody forced them to sign that contract the first time, now suck it up and try again in 2005 when it's time to negotiate. (Of course, by then they could be off the air, which I guess is the point of demanding more money NOW.) Posted by: Amy on July 29, 2003 01:29 PMI can almost understand the argument from a "parity" perspective - no matter how much you make it still sucks to make less than someone else doing pretty much the same thing (and in this case, I don't think its TWW vs. Seinfeld per se, but rather most of TWW's cast vs. Martin Sheen). But at least acknowledge the fact that you're going to look like an asshole to the general population for doing this. Posted by: sparky on July 31, 2003 04:16 PMPost a comment
