The debate over what exactly happened on Flight 93 strikes me as sad and strange, because . . . I'm not sure it matters as between the two feuding interpretations. I think it's pretty clear that one way or another, because of the actions of the passengers, the plane went down in a field instead of in Washington. I shudder to think of how much worse the day might have been, and they are plenty heroic enough to me either way. Breached the cockpit, made it clear they were GOING to breach the cockpit . . . as I said, either way.

I agree. And I have to wonder why TPTB are keeping the Saudis involvement secret while releasing this little 'guaranteed to cause a ruckus' nugget? A bit too convienient for my taste, IYKWIM.

The people on Flight 93 are my idea of heroes -- they knew they were going to die, and they did what they had to do to save other people's lives anyway. It was possible for the FBI to introduce their theory in a way that did not appear to be denigrating the accomplishments of these people. That they did not do it leads me to believe that they were trying to create a stir -- a diversion, if you will.

"...she believes she heard Glick delivering a judo strike to one hijacker." Huh?

Well, you know how Austin Powers yells "Judo CHOP" when he hits someone? Maybe it was like that.

The details are important - but those people were far more heroic than I can even dream of being, and accomplished what they set out to do - save possibly thousands of fellow citizens.

The press I read at least made a point to say that the FBI does not discredit or minimize the heroic actions of the passengers...but of course, you may not even get past the headline. Either way, I could only hope to be one-tenth as brave under those circumstances.
